The first week of Charity Madness was a scoring display for the top seeds in each bracket. The YMCA and SF Schools fans flocked to their local Sports Basement to show their support and raised almost $3,000 for each organization in the process. TNT, with a team in 3 out of 4 divisions showed why it’s one of the top charities in the Bay Area. AIDS LifeCycle showed that it has the skills to win the whole tournament if The YMCA or SF Schools take their eye off the ball.
In true March Madness fashion we also had exciting upset victories – all 6 seeds ousting 3 seeds: Project Inform informed more fans than the Scouts, American Heart Assoc. kept the beat going against the BASOC, and the US Military charities out marched the WC Swim Clubs.
Week 2 starts today and ends Sunday! “Scores” start back at $0 again. If you missed your chance to support your charity last time, now’s your chance. As for the teams leaving the tournament – thanks for playing, better luck next year and your fundraising checks are in the mail.
