Waste to Waves

Sports Basement has teamed up with Waste to Waves to collect all that evil Styrofoam (aka EPS Foam) we all get from packaging*. Right now only our Presidio location has a collection bin - near the exit of the store. Watch the video below to learn more about Waste To Waves…

*We can only accept:
- Clean, white EPS foam from packaging materials (such as what came with your new television)

Stuff we cannot accept:
- No food waste contaminated foam
- No foam “peanuts” – these aren’t EPS foam
- No broken surfboards – give them to Rerip.org instead

Clair is the interim online community manager and works in women's fitness at the Presidio store. She's a race walker, cyclist and avid Giants fan.

Are you collecting styrofoam at the Bryant Street store? Golden Gate Audubon volunteers collect styrofoam and other trash from the bay at our habitat restoration sites.

Right now, this is a pilot program only at our Presidio store. We’re going to see how it goes, but we hope we can implement it at all our stores.
