Unless you’ve been maintaining a comfortable summer home under the biggest rock known to man, you know that the Olympics are in full swing across the pond.
Sports Basement has been waiting for this ever since the closing ceremony up in Vancouver two years ago, so you can imagine we’re going all out, and you’d be right. We’re celebrating the Olympics three different ways, and we hope you’ll join us for all them all!
Check your feed for contests worthy of an Olympiad
We’ll be posting new contests and trivia questions on each of our stores’ Facebook pages throughout the Olympics. Winners will receive a $25 gift card for their awesomeness (one guess per person, one winner per page) so be sure to log on and show us what you got!
It ain’t fun if we ain’t giving back
All four stores will be hosting a fundraiser for the Special Olympics of Northern California the last weekend of the Olympics, August 11 and 12. When you mention them at the register, 10% of your purchase will be donated back to Special Olympics. Our very own local Special Olympic athletes will be in the stores from 1pm to 2pm on Sunday, so come on in and show your support.
The Olympics are on (on-screen, that is)
Sports Basement will be broadcasting select Olympic events in our stores on big projection screens, so you can cheer for the USA with a huge group of like-minded individuals. Our schedule is as follows:
Thursday, Aug. 2: 9am to 11am – Women’s Gymnastics
Saturday, Aug. 4: 11am to 12:30pm – Swimming
Sunday, Aug. 5: 11am to 2pm – Track and Field
Monday, Aug. 6: 9am to 11:45pm – Women’s Soccer
2pm to 4 pm – Men’s Basketball
Thursday, Aug. 9: 11:45am – Women’s Soccer
So come by and get Olympic with your fellow sports nerds – we gotta band together!

I want to see the product that you carry, but it is nearly imposible to navigate your site. too much stuff. How do you get to product?
Thanks for visiting the site, Jason! We’re redesigning our website to focus on the awesome things going on in our stores, and building stronger relationships with our local customers. As part of that, we’re not selling stuff online, so our products are not listed. We hope you can visit us if you’re ever in the Bay Area!
I you rebroadcast the win over Canada in the women’s soccer semifinal, I would shop then. A “US Olympic women’s soccer shopping” night.
