Burning Man begins at the Basement

Burning Man is mere weeks away, and we’ve been sleeping with our goggles under our pillows every night in anticipation. Luckily, we’ve been spending all of our waking hours planning burner-tastic events so that you can start getting ready for the magic of the Playa!

We’ve got help on how to Leave No Trace, packing tricks from veteran burners, and the unmissable annual Cycle Swap.

And be sure to come by your local Sports Basement to grab an extra bandana or twelve – word on the street is this will be one of the dustiest years yet!

Pack It Up, Pack It In – Packing for Burning Man
Thurs. Aug. 16, 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Bryant Street Store

What to bring, what not to bring, and how to bring it! 10 year veteran Burner Katherine the Great will give her favorite tips and tricks for packing, prepping, and getting your stuff safely to the Black Rock Desert. She’ll be going over everything small to large – from packing your toiletries, to packing your vehicle or trailer.

Cycle Swap
Saturday, August 18, 10am – 2pm
Sunnyvale Store

There’s really no navigating Burning Man without a handy set of wheels.  Get your beater back into shape at our annual Cycle Swap, benefiting the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition. Vendors will be on hand to sell and trade bike related products, and each attendee will be treated to a free BBQ, so you really can’t lose. Adults are $3; kids 12 and under are free. All proceeds will go towards benefiting the SVBC, so you’re already getting in a Burning Man state of mind by attending.

Essential Packing List

As if that weren’t enough, Sports Basement is packed to the gills with equipment you’ll need to thrive on the Playa.  All of our stores have stacks of shopping checklists so you don’t have to worry about forgetting the essentials, from extra socks to bicycles, tents and more.  Check out the list here!

Don’t wait for the 27th to start living Burning Man style – embrace the Playa with us!
