Basement Book Review: Born to Run

Jen reads Born to Run

Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen by Christopher McDougall

I am not a runner and so assumed this book wouldn’t be for me. But with several copies selling within the first few days of its arrival along with a fellow non-runner’s thumbs-up, I gave it a chance. This book’s broad appeal results from the story transcending its niche-y subject.

Though I “hit the wall” a couple of times when I got bogged down by stats, I pushed on through and was ultimately rewarded with a greater appreciation for endurance running and the possibility that the ability is present in all of us. I even entertained the thought of going for a run… I didn’t… but perhaps your innate runner will be triggered.

Sports Basement now carries this book and a bunch more in its new, expanded book sections at all stores.
