America’s Cup is making waves

Pull on your captain’s hat and get ready to breathe in that cool salt air – the America’s Cup World Series is here! If you’re like us, you’ve been finding reasons to drive past the Marina all week, just for a glimpse of the magic. The wait is finally over: the festivities begin today, with racing from 2pm to 4pm Thursday through Saturday, and 11:45am to 2pm on Sunday.

Only one question remains: where to watch the race? Luckily, there’s tons of options available!

Marina Green: Open from 10am to 6pm daily, this is the official America’s Cup Village, packed to the brim with booths, stages, a kid’s area, and more. The boats will be visible just off the water, and this is as close as it gets to the finish line.

The Bay: That’s right, watch the race from the water with the Red and White Fleet’s hourlong Golden Gate Bay Cruise, or the 90-minute Bridge 2 Bridge Cruise, both of which pass right by the race area.

Crissy Field: Come hang out with us right by our Presidio store at Crissy Field. We’ll have stellar views of the dramatic turns at this end of the course, and likely a bit more breathing room than Marina Green will have. Best of all, we’ve recently opened up an entire sailing department here at our store, so we know just where to go after we’re all inspired from watching the race. And, if the weather does that classic San Francisco thing and turns chilly and foggy, you can always come in and warm up in our couch-filled community area.

Parking: It’ll be tough! As much as we love being your community hub for rides, walks, runs and everything else, most of our parking lot has been allocated to America’s Cup for official use. We recommend taking the bus, walking, running, or riding your bike here to watch the spectacle, instead.
